Lets focus on Aperture !

Image
So as mentioned in my previous posts, Aperture is the control of the cameras' iris and this results in either really beautiful photos with blurry backgrounds or an unfocused mess of a picture. Here's some tips on how to get your Aperture settings correct every time. 1. Judge the lighting situation of the setting - If the lighting situation of the scene is too bright they the best way to go is with a higher  aperture setting. and vice versa. The reason for this is because the higher the F stop, the smaller the iris closes. restricting light, naturally. 2. Backgrounds! - Remember no matter what angle you shoot your subject with, there's always going to be a background ... well in the background. so depending on what you are aiming for your F stop can be used to blur our the background using a Low F stop or you could use a higher F stop to show the background if there is something important you'd like to capture. 3. Bokeh - No this is not an anime cartoon. Bokeh is...

Camera Basics - Videography

Image
Videography and Photography follow very similar principals, the difference is that where photography captures images or stills, videography captures multiple images at once and displays them at a specific speed in order to create the illusion of movement. Like Photography, Video cameras also pick up light primarily, as with all cameras. The settings for you video camera are also linked to each other however they may be name different things.  for example, in photography we spoke about the Key settings in Photography DSLR cameras i.e. Aperture, ISO, Shutter Speed. In videography we still use the term aperture for the F stop and shutter speed, however the ISO  is referred to as Db (Decibels).  We can say that these settings are similar because they both artificially brighten up pixels using the cameras' sensor and if used at a high value, both can create Grain or Noise.  Depending on the camera you are using, these settings will be mentioned as how I ...

Camera basics - Photography

Image
Lets be honest, asking a photographer about the camera he uses is very similar to asking a chef about the type of pot he uses to cook. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and as a photographer or videographer for that matter, you need to have the ability to see beauty in things other people just can't see. But what is the point of being able to see something beautiful without having the knowledge to capture it? Even if you have the equipment to capture fantastic shots, there is no point if you don't know the bare basics of photography. Well on every DSLR camera there are manual settings you can use to optimize your beauty capturing capabilities. Photography is simply the art of capturing light. Our eyes see nothing but light, and different frequencies of light make up different colors etc. Cameras use the same principle basically, but since we have a brain, we need to tell the camera how to look as light in different situations. Camera settings have 3 equal parts ...
