Camera Basics - Videography

Videography and Photography follow very similar principals, the difference is that where photography captures images or stills, videography captures multiple images at once and displays them at a specific speed in order to create the illusion of movement.

Like Photography, Video cameras also pick up light primarily, as with all cameras. The settings for you video camera are also linked to each other however they may be name different things.

for example, in photography we spoke about the Key settings in Photography DSLR cameras i.e. Aperture, ISO, Shutter Speed. In videography we still use the term aperture for the F stop and shutter speed, however the ISO is referred to as Db (Decibels).

We can say that these settings are similar because they both artificially brighten up pixels using the cameras' sensor and if used at a high value, both can create Grain or Noise.

Depending on the camera you are using, these settings will be mentioned as how I am mentioning it, however if you are shooting video on a DSLR camera, then they will be named the same as if you are shooting photography.
